
Purpose:
- Promote the improvement of the art, science, and practice of Mechanical Engineering in the fields of manufacturing.
- Encourage, promote and coordinate the activities of the technical divisions which make up the Manufacturing Technical Group with respect to their organization, publications, technical meetings, member interests, membership development, long range planning, and leadership development.
- Represent the interests and provide coordination of activities for the divisions of the Manufacturing Technical Group, by an engaged leadership team functioning as a group operating board. This team includes representation from every division plus has six at-large members who chair key cross group and division committees.
- Report to the Knowledge and Communities (K&C) on the activities of the divisions of the Manufacturing Technical Group as required by policy and operating procedures.
Manufacturing Engineering Division (MED) ASME's Manufacturing Engineering Division (MED) which fosters the transfer of technology related to manufacturing between industry, universities and national research laboratories.
Materials Handling Engineering Division (MHED) Promotes dissemination and application of technological advancements through mechanical engineering, systems engineering and information technology.
Plant Engineering & Maintenance Division (PEMD) Focuses on the design, fabrication, installation, operation and maintenance of manufacturing systems, equipment, processes and facilities to create products of enhanced value.
Process Industries Division (PID) Focuses on the design of systems and machines for heating, cooling or treating industrial fluids and gases, including the efficient management and control of the processes themselves. |
