The Combined Cycle Committee shall function as a technical committee of the Power Division to promote the technological science, development, design, construction, operation and maintenance of combined cycle power plants as well as their major components.
The Combined Cycle Committee shall address all technological aspects of combined cycle power plants. Such combined cycle power plants could be electric power generation facilities, industrial facilities or co-generation plants. Combined cycle power plants typically are combinations of gas turbine and steam turbine cycles, as well as gas and (or) steam turbine cycles operating in combination with fuel cells, solar systems or any other power generation equipment. The committee will also cover any cycle issues and variations related to present and potential fuels to be burned in combined cycle facilities and integrated solar thermal systems.

CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
As the Chairman of the ASME subcommittee on Combined Cycles for the 2008-2009 season, I would like to welcome all present members and interested parties to what will be an interesting and fruitful year.
As with all ASME Power Division Committees, the Combined Cycle Committee (CCC) has proven to be an excellent vehicle to network with individuals with similar interests and backgrounds. The CCC was formed "to promote the technological science, development, design, construction, operation and maintenance of combined cycle power plants as well as their major components." We attempt to meet those goals by various means including promoting technical papers and technical presentations at our meetings.
The members of the CCC sponsor several technical sessions at the annual ASME Power Division conference. As part of sponsoring the sessions, members author, solicit, and review technical papers and also chair the technical sessions at the conference. We have been very successful soliciting and presenting papers in the past and the sessions have received positive feed back from the audiences. We need to continue to solicit papers for presentation and include all committee members in the conference session process. The next conference will be held in Albuquerque, NM, July 21 - 23, 2009. We hope you can attend.
We have now started a new initiative to promote more interactive technical discussions at the committee meetings. For the next year, the meetings will start with a technical discussion relevant to combined cycle plants (operation, design, etc.). The presenter maybe a committee member or a vendor depending on the subject matter. I anticipate this will add to a lively discussion after the meeting as well.
The Combined Cycle Committee has been very successful since its inception due to its large membership and the active participation of the membership in attendance at meetings, authoring and presentation of papers, review of technical papers, and participation in the Conference sessions. In order to continue the work we have accomplished in the past and to stay relevant in this ever changing engineering environment we must continue to incorporate new ideas and push ourselves to involve new people. New members add to the group knowledge base and provide for continued growth of the committee. So if you are new to the committee we welcome you; or if you have opinions on how the committee can grow to provide more value to the combined cycle community, your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Participation in our committee meetings is open to anyone interested in the Committee's activities. If you are interested in participating or need more information, please contact me or any of the other officers on the committee.
