Please download both the Abstract Preparation Instructions and Abstract Template (Microsoft Word format). Before downloading, please ensure that Word macro security (/Tools/Macro/Security) is set to "medium" in order to enable the macros.  If you are unable to use the Abstract Template with your computer system, please also download the Abstract Layout document, which provides the appropriate margins, columns, etc. to use in formatting your abstract.

If you are experiencing difficulty downloading files from the SBC2007 website:

The security and protection now built into the majority of web browsers to protect people as they surf the web also can limit document downloads in formats other than .pdf (like the interactive abstract template). Instead of lowering your overall level of web security, the best approach to enable proper download of the interactive abstract template is to make http://www.asme.org a 'Trusted Site'. This will enable downloading and still maintain your overall internet security settings. For instructions on how to do this for various computer/browser combinations, as well as instructions regarding the use of the interactive abstract template, click here.

Important notes about abstract submission:

  • Abstracts will be accepted in PDF format only. Authors without access to PDF conversion software can convert their documents using free online services such as www.pdfonline.com.  See the Abstract Preparation Instructions above for more information.
  • PDF files must be <1Mb in size, so please adjust figure resolutions accordingly.
  • Submitted abstracts must be accompanied by an ASME Copyright Transfer (1903) Form signed by all authors. Each author may fill out and sign their own form, or one or more forms may be submitted with multiple signatures, so long as all author signatures are on record for each abstract. 
  • Signed forms should be submitted by fax to 1-866-394-7926 (toll-free number for USA/Canada) or 1-508-408-0322 (international toll call), or scanned and emailed to asme1903@wpi.edu. Please be sure to include Tracking Id, assigned by abstract submission website, on each form and also on the subject line if emailed. If you have questions regarding the terms of the copyright transfer, please email asme1903@wpi.edu. 
  • Note that all forms must be received no later than Monday, February 5, 2007, otherwise the abstract will not be sent out for review.
  • Improperly formatted abstracts, or those exceeding the maximum of two pages, risk being rejected without further consideration.
  • Submission of an abstract implies a commitment by at least one of the authors to attend the conference and present the work. Authors whose abstracts are accepted, but who fail to present their papers, will all be blacklisted from the next Summer Bioengineering Conference (SBC2008).
