The
Max Jakob Memorial Award is given jointly by the American
Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)and the American
Institute Chemical Engineers (AIChE)in honor of Max
Jakob, pioneer in the area of heat transfer, to commemorate
his contributions as a research worker, teacher and
author.

The
award shall be made in recognition of eminent
achievement or distinguished service in the area
of Heat Transfer. It represents the highest honor
in the area of heat transfer that the participating
societies can bestow. |

The
award consists of a bronze plaque, engrossed certificate
and an honorarium. |

of the Award: |
The
award is administered by a board composed of appointed
members from the heat transfer community representing
both ASME and AIChE. This board also selects the
awardee. Qualifications for the award are stated
as follows :
"The
award shall be bestowed not more than once a year
and only when candidates are qualified and worthy.
Society membership or nationality shall not be
considered when determining qualifications of
candidates. A posthumous award shall be made only
if the candidate signified his acceptance of the
award before his death."
