The Information Storage &
Processing Systems Division of ASME serves the mechanical
engineer engaged in the data storage and information processing systems
industries, such as printers, scanners and digital cameras.
The primary focus has been in the rapidly growing data storage industry
dominated by rigid and floppy disks, magnetic tape, VCR and optical disk
technologies. Numerous mechanics and material problems are found with the
domains of these "miniature" products, where nano- & micro- are the common dimension prefixes!
Let us know if we can help you be a better engineer, or consider joining
us and becoming an active and involved ASME member.
