The
goal of the Materials
Division is to encourage and foster research
and development, and the publication of significant technical
information within the scope of the Division. This includes:
- Encouraging the preparation of and aiding in the
publication of papers on materials engineering developments
- Organizing conferences, symposia, and committees
in which all members of the Society may meet to exchange
experiences and technical data
- Cooperating with others within and without the Society
with respect to standardization, research, preparation
of papers, publications, meetings, special services, and
consolidation of efforts
- To honor outstanding mechanical engineers in the
field of materials engineering
- To provide a forum for continuing education in the
area of materials engineering
