we're organized . . .
The
Rail Transpoiration Division work is carried forward by
a number of committees. See the Division
Bylaws for more details. Participation in
their work will develop and sharpen your managerial and
technical skills. Where do you fit in ?
Executive
Committee
A five member Executive Committee handles the affairs
of the Division. To serve on the Executive Committee, you
must have served on one of the Divisions operating
committees.
Operating Committees
Nine other committees carry out specific portions of the
Divisions activities, working under the general direction
of the Executive Committee:
General
Committee - works closely with the Executive
Committee to determine the plans and directions of the Division.
Members include the chairs of all operating committees (see
below), plus representatives of other phases of the Divisions
work.
Advisory
Committee - consists of the 5 most recent Division
Chair whose experience is retained as a service to the current
Division leadership.
Technical
Programs and Papers Committee - coordinates the
selection of papers and the preparation of programs of technical
sessions.
Progress
Report Committee - produces an annual summary
report on progress in railway and rapid transit mechanical
engineering.
Membership
Development Committee - encourages railroad industry
engineers and rapid transit mechanical engineering to join
ASME and the Rail Transportation Division.
Awards
Committee - considers and recommends members
and papers for Division Awards and for other ASME honors.
Publicity
Committee - publishes the Division newsletters
and coordinates publicity work in connection with Divisions
Conferences.
Luncheon
Committee - arranges the annual Divisions luncheon.
Technology
and History Committee - records significant events
in the history of railway mechanical engineering and the
Division itself.
Special
Committees are set up and operate from time to
time to enable the Division to achieve specific one-time
objectives, or to serve as liaison with headquarters or
other divisions in specific areas of concern.
