The Solar Energy Division annually organizes a technical conference, the International Solar Energy Conference, which is held in the spring. This conference attracts national and international participants and features paper presentation, keynote speakers, and panel discussions. The division also sponsors technical sessions at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition and the International Energy Conversion Engineering Conference.

Called the SOLAR SPLASH, this competition draws entrants from around the United States and Japan.
