T&S is responsible to help create and disseminate
technical content in its program areas. T&S also
intends to develop and disseminate its own position
statements, per ASME policy, on a variety of topics
pertaining to its "program lines." But there is a
"missing ingredient," without which T&S will
wither - committed volunteer members.
T&S is seeking volunteers to serve as subject
matter experts (SME's) in the wide range of areas
relevant to T&S. It is also seeking volunteers to
perform the other necessary functions of a Technical
Division, as well as volunteers to lead the overall
effort.
T&S is changing and will continue to change.
T&S SME's and T&S managers will be expected
to operate via email and occasional conference calls.
They will not be expected to attend
ASME annual meetings to meet face-to-face.
T&S Executive
Committee
If you are interested in an Executive Committee (EC)
position (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, and
Member-at-Large), please submit a self-nomination to
the T&S Nominating Committee. EC members are
division members with "Profit and Loss"
accountability for the division and are responsible
to the E&TM Group Vice President for overall
division performance. Division members with
management and leadership experience are encouraged
to self nominate by sending a brief 1-2 page resume
and cover letter to the Executive
Committee Chair. Primary selection criteria
include demonstrated desire to learn, capability and
a willingness to serve on the EC for at least 2 years
(not necessarily in same position both years). ASME
experience and past volunteer team leadership success
are also especially valued.
T&S Program
Committees
Volunteers to contribute to the technical content
creation and dissemination processes of the various
Program Committees. Available positions include
technical expert, sub-committee chair and committee
chair. Younger members interested in gaining
management experience as well as more experienced
members who are subject matter experts in the
division's field of interest are encouraged to notify
a member of the Executive
Committee.
Volunteer roles will be customized to meet member
time availability, current expertise and areas of
future interest. Enthusiasm and desire to learn and
contribute are a must, but previous ASME experience
is not required.
Students and Young Engineers are especially
encouraged to participate.
T&S Functional
Committees
In addition to technical content creation and
dissemination, T&S has other functions and needs.
Volunteers are needed in the functional committees
listed on the committee
index page.
Individuals with an interest in any of these
committees should contact any member of the Executive
Committee.
