T&S Membership
T&S News

Through active participation in the T&S Division you may broaden your outlook and sharpen your professional skills for the benefit of the society of which you are a part. As a member of the division you have the opportunity to work with other engineering professionals exchanging ideas and participating in the interaction of technology and society while discussing the problems that arise from that interaction. You will be challenged to understand and evaluate the effects, both desirable and undesirable, of new technologies and the problems arising from older technologies. You will come to understand that we as engineers are both problem solvers and problem creators. This is not a new idea, only a paradox becoming more and more crucial to the public perception of our roles and responsibilities with our technological knowledge.

The bi-annual T&S newsletter is sent, hardcopy, to ASME members who have designated T&S as their primary or secondary division. However, the newsletter will be available on the website for ASME members who designate T&S as their third, fourth, or fifth technical division. Everyone who has designated T&S Division, whether first or fifth, is equally welcome to participate in Division activities, including leadership positions. Email will be primarily used to facilitate communication in the Division.

ASME serves a worldwide membership of over 125,000 Engineers of different backgrounds and values. Our division allows for the exchange of all the various conceptions we individually bring to the table. T&S is part of the Engineering and Technology Management (E&TM) Group within the Council on Engineering along with our sister divisions of Management and SERAD (Safety Engineering & Risk Analysis).

Joining is simple! If you presently are a member of ASME, but are not aligned with T&S or wish to change the order of T&S in your five technical divisions of interest, Click here to change your "Technical Interest".

If you are not an ASME member and would like to join the Society, Click here for information on membership benefits and an on-line application form. When filling out the membership application form, make sure to indicate "Technology & Society Division" as your first choice for Technical Division interest.
