WTC III Technical Program Attracts Interest from over 60 Countries!

The World Tribology Congress III has received tremendous response from the international tribology community. Abstracts from 61 countries were submitted for consideration in the technical program. Over 65% of the submissions were from countries outside of the United States representing each of the seven continents. "We are extremely pleased with the level of interest from around the globe. These results underscore our commitment to making WTC III truly a world-class event," said Dr. Josiah Knight of Duke University, a member of the WTC III Oversight Committee. money that you could dedicate to any
one area of tribology research or a
tribology project, which would you choose and why?

Research is a topic near and dear to the hearts of TLT readers - a record 255 of them answered this month's question.
Top vote-getters for areas deserving more research funding included biotribology, environmentally fluids and synthetics. Are tribologists underappreciated? 42% of them say the main obstacle preventing more research is "lack of understanding about or appreciation of tribology." And 75% of respondents say there is not enough tribology research
being conducted today.

Admission is FREE, for all Smithsonian museums in Washington, DC

The Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. are open every day of the year except December 25. Most museums are open from 10am-5:30pm; the Anacostia Museum is open 10am-5pm, except during exhibition installation. The Smithsonian Information Center, located in the Castle, is open 8:30am-5:30pm.
